A Sniffle and a Smile

Coming to you from my own weird state of Momminess today…. am I the only freak of nature that cries on her kids’ birthdays??? Even if I am, someone just humor me and say no. It is unfortunate that I PMS like a lunatic right around the celebration time but what can ya do? Let me just clear off my mound of tissues here so I can take you all back a year…. queue the sad music, maestro.

::sniffle:: Oh my God, he was so TINY! Wook at da widdle peanut! Isn’t he just da cutest widdle baby ev… Whoa. Slipped into baby talk there. Snap out of it, Nic!

Hard to believe we went from 6 lbs, 10 oz of squishy newborn to this 23 lb chunker of a little man:

And although he wasn’t born until 9:20 pm….

Happy 1st

Bug!!

Love, Mommy

  1. Awe! He was so tiny! Happy First Birthday Lil One!

Also, I have this email in my inbox that was drafted to you and then I couldn't come up with your email address. Anyway, the point of the email was YES! Anytime you come down here for the beach or to Orlando let me know cause I would like to meet the girl behind the funny. But, the beach is definitely worth the drive, so you should do that, and our kids should play or visit T-Rex together! :)

  2. Happy Birthday! I don't need to humor you and tell you I cried when Abby turned one last week.... because I DID cry. It's hard!! I was very emotional.... for some reason, I felt like she would no longer be a baby and only a toddler from here on out. Lesson learned, she will always be my baby :)

BTW, We'd love to meet up with you too if you ever come down to Siesta!! Carol is my bestie IRL :)

  3. I TOTALLY get where you are coming from. Aden turned 1 yesterday...this morning, he started transitioning to the 1 year old room at day care. Luckily he doesn't have separation issues, because I had to make a bee line out of the center to my car before the flood of tears came....

  5. Happy Birthday!!! And I don't think you'll be alone with the crying at birthdays thing. It's really starting to hit me that my precious little girl is turning one in 8 days. My gosh!! I'm still in denial.

  6. Happy first birthday! What beautiful pictures! Yes, I cry too. I cry even when I watch my daughter do something new and spectacular, but it shows she is growing. It is a happy thing and I also want to hold on to the moment for a while longer. Have a great night!

  9. Happy First Birthday Bug! I cried on Rylie's last birthday when I was making my post with the older pictures. It is all so bittersweet. So no, you're not the only freak of nature that cries on your kids' birthdays. :-) I'm sure I'll be crying in less than three weeks...

I hope he had a great birthday!

  10. Happy Birthday to Bug! It is not crazy that you cried on his birhtday...alot happens with a baby in a year. And especially all you have going on now. He was so cute when we was born. Ever wonder why every darn hospital has that same blankets???
